Terms of Service

1. Agreement

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the VIN Lookup service (“the Service”). By using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. What the Service is — and is not

The Service lets you look up a vehicle by VIN, view a plain-language summary (including whether a state inspection record is on file), and request a report by email.

The Service is informational only. Inspection results, test dates, pass/fail outcomes, and diagnostic trouble codes it provides are not an official record, certificate, or determination.

We are not a government agency. The Service is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated on behalf of any state motor-vehicle, environmental, or inspection authority, nor with any vehicle-inspection program operator. For any official, legal, registration, sale, or compliance purpose, obtain an official record from the appropriate state authority.

3. No warranty on accuracy

Inspection and vehicle data comes from third parties (including state program sources and the U.S. NHTSA vehicle database) and may be incomplete, out of date, or contain errors. The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any information is accurate or complete.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use the Service to harass, defraud, or harm anyone, or to violate anyone’s privacy;
• bulk-collect, scrape, harvest, or enumerate VINs or inspection records, or access the Service other than through its intended interface;
• circumvent, disable, or interfere with rate limits, verification, or any security or access-control feature;
• upload malicious files or anything you do not have the right to upload; or
• use the Service in violation of any applicable law or third-party right.

We may suspend or terminate access that violates these Terms or threatens the security, integrity, or cost of the Service.

5. Email verification and reports

To view inspection details or receive reports you must verify an email address via a one-time link, and you are responsible for keeping that inbox secure. Report delivery is subject to per-address and per-IP limits (which may change) and is delivered only to the verified address.

6. Uploaded content

If you upload a diagnostic-scan PDF to generate a full report, you confirm you have the right to do so. We process the file only to produce your report and do not store it. You retain any rights in your uploaded content.

7. Intellectual property

The Service, its design, and its original content are owned by the operator or its licensors. Underlying vehicle and inspection data belongs to its respective sources. These Terms grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for its intended purpose.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator and its providers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your reliance on information provided by the Service. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid to use the Service (for a free service, zero).

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold the operator harmless from claims arising out of your misuse of the Service or your violation of these Terms or applicable law, to the extent permitted by law.

10. Changes

We may modify or discontinue the Service and may update these Terms. Material changes update the date above. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
